Sissukoni XI - The Best Finnish ASL TournamentFor the 11th time, Self-Rally Platoon organises the Finnish ASL tournament. This year we revisit the beautiful island of Kuivasaari in front of Helsinki. This location is a perfect ASL tournament site: a quiet and isolated area where no half-nude females, night clubs or other sins distract you from the holy game of ASL [EXC: Jesus, he can walk on the water and/or turn water to wine]. As usual, all the brave Finnish ASL players will be present. Some years, some daring foreigners have participated the tournament, too. Melvin Falk has never won this tournament. His best achievement so far has been Bronze in 2003. Lars Thuring did win one year (but that was like before 9/11). Each round has three scenarios. The scenarios used on each round will be made public on 31st of July 2009, at which point all registered attendees will be mailed an info package containing the scenarios. Players are paired based on the Finnish ASL ELO ranking as per morning 8.00 of August 14, 2009, and you generally play with someone else in the tournament with same amount of wins as you have. If you do not have a Finnish ASL ELO ranking, do not worry, we will take care of you anyway. Scenarios and sides are decided so that each player chooses one scenario he doesn't want to play and gives one of the remaining two an advantage. There are three possible outcomes: Players eliminate different scenarios, then you will play the remaining scenario Players eliminate same scenario, but they give advantage to different scenarios. Players then dice to decide which one is played Players favor the same scenario, so the favored scenario is played. After the scenario has been chosen, players dice for sides. Players should agree if they use IIFT or IFT before they select the scenario. We hope that you observe the time limits for each round while playing. If players do not finish the scenario on time, the organizers will have to decide who the winner is after evaluating each player's positions. We do not like judging scenarios, but we will do it if to keep rounds exceeding the allowed time. This is very important and is strictly enforced on rounds 2 and 3 All players should use some kind of dice rolling equipment (a glass, cup or a tower) instead of free hand rolling. Absolutely no commentary on other scenarios being played is allowed. The tournament results are defined by score. The players scores one point per each win. If the score is tie we follow the following tie-breakers: 1. Buchholz rating: the scores of the player's opponents (higher opponent score wins lower opponent score). 2. Head-to-head play: If two players' Buchholtz comparison was even and players played against each other in the tournament, the winner is higher ranked. 3. Lottery: If two players' Buchholtz comparison was even and players did played against each other in the tournament, the winner is the one rolling lower in a single DR. |
